Appalachia Technologies announces its continued expansion with their 5th acquisition!

Mechanicsburg, PA, March 25, 2021:Today, Appalachia Technologies, a Managed IT and Cybersecurity Provider, announced their acquisition of PremierComm's Unified Communications and Collaboration division; further adding service capabilities, clients and team members to their Managed IT and Professional Services organization.

The Companies' core values are well aligned with an emphasis on serving our employees, clients, and partners.  With this acquisition, Appalachia welcomes a team of UC/Network Engineers along with a seasoned/senior Account Executive, enabling a seamless transition for existing PremierComm clients.

With the added Unified Communications capabilities, Appalachia is better positioned than ever to be the partner of choice to help businesses with ongoing management of their IT environment, assist with complex projects, and improve their cybersecurity posture. Appalachia services clients ranging in size and industry.

Appalachia's cybersecurity practice capabilities currently include:

  • NIST-based Security Assessments (Including NIST 800-171 CMMC with System Security Plan (SSP) Development)
  • Penetration Testing (Internal/External Network and Web Application)
  • Vulnerability Management
  • Managed Threat Detection and Response (SOC-as-a-Service)
  • Firewall, VPN, MFA, and Perimeter Security

Additionally, Appalachia provides a variety of IT infrastructure and systems-based services, ranging from Microsoft 365, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), Cloud Migrations, Backup Solutions, Network Assessments & Implementations, and Wireless Site Surveys & Installations.

In addition to this acquisition, Appalachia has developed a strategic partnership with PremierComm’s sister company – Avail Technologies, a cloud solutions company.  This partnership will derive comprehensive service capabilities across a multitude of technology stacks as the two firms team on a go to market strategy, targeting the Enterprise and mid-tier markets they geographically serve.

Appalachia has been active in the M&A space over the last several years, focused on adding expertise that aligns to our core competencies. APPALACHIA IN THE NEWS: Appalachia Technologies Cited in Case Study to Improve Efficiencies and Service Delivery   Improve and Evolve - this is one of the five Core Values of Appalachia Technologies and one we believe helps us to stay at the forefront of our industry.  Our Technical Assistance Center (TAC), while performing well and delivering quality service, was being challenged by processes for documentation that were manual and outdated.  Not satisfied with the current way of doing this, Chris Swecker, Manager of TAC, began to explore IT Glue.  IT Glue centralizes information, allowing for efficiencies in response time, accuracy, and client satisfaction.  As he explains, "IT Glue became our source of truth."  Chris and his team built on the success by incorporating additional tools to assist with password rotation and a client-side tool for password management and shared documentation.
