The modern business environment is an increasingly complex system with many shifting pieces. Over time, new end-points are added, software is installed or changed, and policies are adjusted. Cloud services are increasingly embraced, and workforces continue to be more mobile. This can lead to exploits that online threats and cybercriminals can take advantage of.

When Your Data is at Risk, Your Reputation is at Risk

Most businesses store sensitive data, ranging from client information, employee information, financial data, intellectual property and more. If you fall victim to a data breach, it will do damage to the relationship you have with your clients and prospects. Proactively assessing and protecting the assets you manage will go a long way in both preventing major issues from occurring and establishing trust with those you work with.

 Assessment Framework

Knowing your own weaknesses is critical to preventing disaster before it is too late.

Appalachia’s Security Assessment Services will benchmark your systems, network, policies, procedures, and overall security posture using National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Conducted by highly experienced security professionals, Appalachia’s Security Assessment Services pinpoint your organization’s critical information security weaknesses, and analyze and prioritize risks.  Additionally, we can help remediate issues cost-effectively and in order of importance.

The goal of the Security Assessment is to identify and report on gaps within an organization’s People, Processes, and Technologies to improve the overall security posture.

Framework Assessment:

The Security Assessment starts with an evaluation of your current cyber security posture against 106 controls in the NIST Cyber Security Framework. The assessment will produce a detailed roadmap and strategy for improving your current cyber resiliency.

Vulnerability Scanning:

Vulnerability scanning is an important resource that provides businesses with insights into weaknesses in their environment including vulnerabilities, misconfigurations and other security health indicators.

Configuration Assessment:

Appalachia offers additional technical evaluations to verify current configurations of systems based on industry best practices.

APPALACHIA IN THE NEWS: Appalachia Technologies Cited in Case Study to Improve Efficiencies and Service Delivery   Improve and Evolve - this is one of the five Core Values of Appalachia Technologies and one we believe helps us to stay at the forefront of our industry.  Our Technical Assistance Center (TAC), while performing well and delivering quality service, was being challenged by processes for documentation that were manual and outdated.  Not satisfied with the current way of doing this, Chris Swecker, Manager of TAC, began to explore IT Glue.  IT Glue centralizes information, allowing for efficiencies in response time, accuracy, and client satisfaction.  As he explains, "IT Glue became our source of truth."  Chris and his team built on the success by incorporating additional tools to assist with password rotation and a client-side tool for password management and shared documentation.
