Terri Black-Bendl, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Nominated for Women in Technology Award

PRESS RELEASE

Mechanicsburg, PA, July 11, 2024 - Appalachia Technologies is excited to announce that Terri Black-Bendl, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, has been nominated for the Women in Technology Awards, presented by Technology Council of Central PA.  Terri’s nomination category, Impact Award – Private Sector/Entrepreneur to Small Business, spotlights women who have made contributions in technology in the Entrepreneurial/Small Business (under 50 employees) category.

Terri Bendl 100Mike Williams, President at Appalachia, has worked closely with Terri since she joined the company 8 years ago.  “Terri’s been our rock at Appalachia, year-in and year-out,” says Williams when asked about Black-Bendl’s contributions.  “She's incredibly smart, extremely passionate about the client experience, and has an unmatched work ethic. Her deep experience, along with genuine care for people and community, has a profound impact on those around her. She’s simply a shining example for others to follow!”

Black-Bendl’s career in IT began in 1995 as a LAN Administrator with Trane, providing local IT support to end users.  During her time, she was the first and only female LAN admin in the national organization’s history to take maternity leave, marking a path for other women.  After 10 years with the company, she continued to grow her technical career as an IT Support Consultant and Senior Systems Administrator with other organizations before making her entry into sales in 2011 as the first full-time employee with TECHRATEGY.  In 2016, Black-Bendl started with Appalachia Technologies, where she has continued to have an impact through business transformation, marketing, and sales, where she now leads a team that includes account executives, business development, marketing, and business analysis.

During Black-Bendl’s tenure, she has made significant contributions in guiding the sales team in breaking goals through her mentorship, as well as her drive in implementing new service offerings that continue to provide innovation in a competitive industry.  Through her technical start in the industry, she has a unique perspective and ability to bridge sales, client experience, and service delivery to provide a holistic experience for clients.  In addition, she has spearheaded a number of networking events, and in recent years has been the catalyst for an annual IT and cybersecurity event, Appalachia Advance.  This fall will mark the third year for the annual event.  The vision of this free event has been one Black-Bendl has had for many years that stemmed from a desire to host an educational event, free from any sales pitches.  The event includes high-quality presenters, breakout sessions and discussions, and networking.

In addition to the impact Black-Bendl has had on Appalachia Technologies, she shares her time supporting events and organizations within her community.  She has participated in the Rotary Youth Leadership awards as a career fair presenter and participates in and supports BSides Harrisburg and their events.  Black-Bendl also works with the Technology Council of Central PA, Harrisburg University and the Government Technology Institute, the Lancaster Chamber, and the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania, partnering with each to bring forth business opportunities, educational presentations, and support to their participants.

The 8th annual Women in Technology Awards will be presented September 25, 2024 at the West Shore Country Club.  In addition to the awards, scholarship recipients will be recognized.  Event tickets can be purchased at the TCCP’s WIT event website: https://www.tccp.org/wit-awards-2024/.

The Technology Council of Central PA’s mission is to bring together local organizations to promote technology while supporting growth and development.  The Women in Technology is one of many events held by TCCP, including Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion in Tech Summit, Innovate!, and PA TechCon.
