Episode 4 - Incident Response Plan (IRP)
We never hope to experience a security incident but the possibility cannot be ignored. It is in the best interest of every organization to have an incident response plan (IRP) in place. So what is an IRP and what should be included? How do you know if your plan is adequate? In this week's episode, Mike Miller walks us through the key aspects of an IRP and how to get started.
What to Know -
An incident response plan needs to be created to provide a process for getting through a security incident, done thoughtfully and thoroughly. There are six (6) steps in an incident response plan: Prepare, Identify, Contain, Eradicate, Recover, and Review.
Why You Should Care -
When a security incident is discovered, every second counts and every decision will impact the recovery. Having an IRP ahead of time that has been reviewed and tested will set you up for the best possible outcome.
